CEREC: a great way to "fix teeth".
CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic.
What it means for you is a good looking and strong repair of your teeth using tooth colored material and no mercury or other metals. It also means not sitting for several minutes with messy impression material over your teeth, no irritating temporary and no second visit two weeks later to place the "real" crown or other restoration.
This is a picure of a CEREC setup showing both the computer-camera unit and the milling machine. It is very precise, allowing fit to about 25 microns. Often we do not have to place crowns on teeth using this technique. Instead we can place high strength inlays or onlays.
